General Description CGE Group

CGE Group is one of the country’s most important energy conglomerates. Its business is concentrated on the electricity and gas sectors, from Arica to Puerto Williams in Chile, in five important provinces of Argentina and in the distribution of liquefied gas in Colombia.

Its mission is to satisfy demand for energy and for products and associated services that improve people’s quality of life and company competitiveness. With more than a century of history, CGE Group projects all its business and investment activities with a long-term view, which goes hand in hand with the success, growth and development of Chile’s regions and their inhabitants.

Through its subsidiaries, CGE participates in the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity; storage, transportation and distribution of gas; and services and products relating to all these activities.

Most of CGE Group’s assets are currently invested in the electricity sector. It is responsible for the distribution of 40% of Chile’s electricity and meets the demand of 43% of local consumers. It attends more than 2.3 million customers in electricity distribution through its subsidiaries EMELARI, ELIQSA, ELECDA EMELAT, CONAFE, CGE DISTRIBUCIÓN, EMELECTRIC, EMETAL, and EDELMAG, representing over 7 million residents in Chile. Its distributors have become the backbone of the Central Interconnected System (SIC) and the Northern Interconnected System (SING). In Argentina, it covers the provinces of Tucumán, Jujuy and San Juan, supplying electricity to over 800 thousand customers.

In the gas area, CGE Group, through GASCO, participates in the distribution of liquefied and natural gas. The company imports liquefied gas for the domestic market through its subsidiary, GASMAR. In Chile, its annual sales exceed 307 thousand tons of liquefied gas and represent approximately 28% share of the national market, while in Colombia volume sales are in the range of 136 thousand tons, with a 23% market share. In the natural gas distribution business in Chile, GASCO participates directly in the Magallanes Region (XII) by means of the Gasco Magallanes business units, through its subsidiary METROGAS in the Metropolitan and VI Regions, and through GAS SUR and INNERGY HOLDINGS in the Biobío Region (VIII). It also participates directly in GASODUCTO DEL PACÍFICO and, through METROGAS, in GASODUCTO GASANDES. In Argentina, GASCO holds 50% of GASCART, a company that controls GASNOR, which supplies natural gas to the provinces of Salta, Tucumán, Jujuy and Santiago del Estero.
